Finding the Solution

Inclusive sport. Real confidence. Stronger communities.
Finding the Solution CIC is a grassroots organisation powered by lived experience and driven by a vision of inclusive communities where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

Who We Are

Finding the Solution works with underserved children and young people to deliver inclusive services through sport.

Disabled children, children with mental health challenges, or those living in temporary accommodation experience exclusion, stigma, and a lack of access to meaningful opportunities. At Finding the Solution, we believe every young person deserves the chance to be heard, included, and supported to thrive.

Ray Clements, founder of Finding the Solution, lost his sight in late 2022. Feeling like life had been "put on pause," he turned to Goalball and found not just a sport, but a path to reclaim his agency, confidence, and joy. He went on to represent Great Britain in blind baseball, becoming the only British visually impaired player to hit a home run in national competition and earning a bronze medal in the World Championships.

Through this journey, Ray has seen first-hand how inclusive sport and storytelling can transform lives. He now wants to share that transformation with the next generation. That’s why we run Goalball sessions across Merseyside.

Why Goalball?

Too many children are excluded from sport and belonging, especially disabled children and children facing barriers linked to poverty, confidence, or lack of accessible opportunities. Goalball flips that. It is designed for blind and visually impaired players, and everyone wears eye shades, so the game starts from equality. It can be adapted so deaf children, neurodivergent children, and wheelchair users can take part.

It has a big impact on individuals, families, and communities. You can read more about its impact here.

Over the next 12 months we will be delivering sessions to 540 children across Merseyside.

Podcast for voices unheard

Our podcast series tackles stigma through honest storytelling, highlighting lived experiences around visual impairment, addiction, homelessness, and mental health. Each episode features individuals who are ‘finding the solution’ in their lives - offering inspiration, information, and visibility to grassroots changemakers. These stories aim to challenge stereotypes and connect listeners to both support services and wider community efforts.
